Grassroots music might disappear.

Oh I hope not. The UK has the most diverse and brilliant music scene on the planet. Think of any music style you want and in any city or big town you will find a venue - in a basement, a room over a pub, a unit on an industrial estate. They were once everywhere, and some of our biggest acts started in them.

The UK is renowned worldwide for its pick 'n' mix music scene, but sadly (Covid) some 86% of venues are struggling. If they go so do the acts.... and music brings in lots of overseas money to our economy.

In my day it was two bob entry, bring your own drinks (no booze), sit down, smoke a joint and dance / listen. We had pirate radio back then and they played a lot of 'own label' stuff not from the big companies on the BBC. There was this group, The Beatles, I wonder what happened to them?

Like comedians who used to perform at Working Men's Clubs. There are very few left. So "comedians" now have very few places to start their
profession. If you could not make the audience laugh in a WM club you would not get another booking. And most of the kokes were clean
No F words.

There still seems to be a fair few pub and club gigs around this neck of the woods, WM.
There's a well-thought of ska band for one and plenty of folk singers on the local circuit, and they still seem to be plying their trade despite Covid..

As WM has stated on many occasions, we have only really given lip service to real lock downs and reducing transmission.
