Partygate (cont'd)

I caught the headlines - "leaked - new images at Boris Johnson at another Party. Is this the end for Boris?"

I was quite surprised to see them. Boris in his best working suit, standing in a doorway raising a glass to a departing member of staff. Social distancing was quite clearly being observed. Hardly the rave up we have all been led to believe.

An attempted media coup to remove an elected Prime Minister.
And they won't let it drop.
Just boring now.

Best soap opera on TV. At least eight people in a small room all with drinks raising their glasses. No social distancing whatsoever. All breaking the law. Cheerleader in chief, the PM himself, doing his world beating best to set the media against him. Apparently the repeats are due to run just before the next GE.

But not before Sue Gray's report. I hope she has some unredacted copies of everything stashed away around the country that can be put under the microscope because I am not confident that the corrupt bunch in No 10 will let everything be published.

Still not interested and the more they push this the harder the backlash will be at the next election.

91,000 civil servants lost. Keep going and we can privatise the lot.

In hindsight it just proves how ridiculous the 'science' was. Not everyone could be furloughed and many people still had to go into work to keep things going. In reality the only achievable objective in an office environment was to keep a reasonable distance between people and their desks. Following the science to a degree that families couldn't meet up in their own gardens seems a nonsense now looking back. And we all shopped - yes we did as we were told and kept our distance but there were dozens of people in supermarkets jostling at the shelves at any one time.

Kaz, the next BBC Panorama will be one to watch, though maybe not for hard-hat, hi-viz poster boy's fanzone members.

It looks like some of those at the picture party and other events are about to spill the beans on the culture in No10, and why not?
They describe arriving for work the morning after a get-together to find bottles lying around parts of the building, bins overflowing with rubbish and empties left on the table.

They also tell of events with dozens of staff crowded together, and parties going so late that, on occasion, some ended up staying in Downing Street all night.

Mr Johnson attended and made a speech to thank Mr Cain, but as the party developed "there were about 30 people, if not more, in a room. Everyone was stood shoulder to shoulder, some people on each other's laps…one or two people."

These are civil servants so they might be thinking that if some 90,000 or so of them are about to lose their jobs, then why not.

"Do unto others what they would do unto you, but do it first."

Well the civil service has had this fallacy that so long as they turn up and don't blot the copybook they can't be fired.

If this becomes a scorched earth thing, both sides are going to lose. But they needn't think that Labour will undo what the Tories do with the civil service. They'll take the money and use it elsewehre.
