More self driving

As this technology improves I'll post the occasional update.

If you have 6 minutes to spare, another new video on self driving. The car is doing the driving, the human has to touch the wheel to confirm that oversight is in place. The human is not driving. The route is not pre mapped with lidar and the car is reading the road and the signs.

The speed is on the top left of the in car display.

Judging by his Reginal Molehusband parking skills (end of vid) he is probably best letting the car drive.

Billions, literally, do not need these things. They are for the rich in first world super cities, and, of course, they are tech toys for boys (and girls) to play with.

Let's have a vid of one going from Worksop to Brigg on a foggy morning, or one from Baranovichi to Babruysk - both in Belarus. Or how about a trip from Accra (Ghana) to Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) in an EV with self-drive?

They have no practical use for 99% of humans.

Actually that was the computer parking the car. :o :o It has some work to be done on it, but at least it can manage it. I know plenty of humans who always park nose in because they can't reverse park into a vertical parking space.

The next revision of this software, 10.13, will be able to navigate to a GPS reference by working out the streets itself, without a map, just as a human does. But that would not be good enough I guess.... :ugeek: :ugeek:

10.13 eh

I don't need satellites, GPS, 5G masts or Artificial stupidity (AS) chip to get from A to B - I have a brain.

I can get from Adel to Oakwood via any number of routes, and I can divert any time I like at a whim. Why would I want an AS chip in the car to take over?

EVs and SD are bollocks for the majority.

"Good morning Suff, today's breakfast is wheatbran and sweet potato puree."

"Bit I want CoCo Pops."

"Today's breakfast is wheatbran and sweet potato puree. Enjoy, sucker."

That's the AS world.

Yep.

Now imagine you live in the country on your own. No busses and no taxi's.

AS, "take me to the pub". Certainly Suff.
Somewhat slurred.
AS, "take me home". Certainly Suff.

Or, for me, 1,500 miles to Stockholm. I'd be very happy to do it in 300 mile hops whilst reading, sleeping or watching a few movies or, even, shock horror, working.

Mostly we drive because there is no option. Most drivers, if there was a free driving service, would use it. Simply put they would not drive. AI driving provides that choice without the cost of a human driver. Yes the AI will have a cost but it will be a one time cost.

This technology needs to mature fast because it will also be used for busses, trucks and other, as yet undefined, use cases. It is important in our development. Just like in other things, the more affluent parts of the world will pay the price of the development and the less affluent parts of the world will benefit. You don't think the 3rd world paid for the Internet they put to such good use???
