Trouble in Leicester

On August 28th India beat Pakistan in a cricket match.

Which to most people is something and nothing. But not in Leicester. Since that date there have been regular outbreaks of violent disorder on the streets of East Leicester between gangs of Hindu and Muslim youths. Why you should want to kick off over a cricket match beats me, but there you are.

But what really interests me is how this disorder has been reported. Which comes down to this, up until last night, it really hadn't been reported. Certainly not by the national media.

A YouTube video put up nine days since talks of ten days of disorder. Yet no reports at all until last night.

I suppose this kind of trouble doesn't fit the narrative. That we are a diverse nation who get along just fine and any trouble there is is down to far right racists, who are invariably white.

Well, apparently there have been some extremely racist chants sung in Leicester, and not by white people.

The non-coverage by the media is a classic of it's kind.

First suppress and then when you can't suppress it any more, try and minimise it as much as you can.

These clashes erupt regularly in towns and cities but are only reported in the local press such as in Oldham, Rochdale, Rotherham etc. By and large they are sectarian in nature and not racially motivated. Sectarian being Moslems and Hindus, btw.

In Harehills, Leeds, small scale versions have become the thing to do on Friday and Saturday nights. I dare say it is much the same in many other places. Groups get together, have a bit of a bundle, then sod off before the police can arrive in force. Nothing to report.

These things are coordinated and they will only be taken seriously when deaths occur, and by then it will be too late.

My view is that PC and the diversity agendas are holding any real action back.

When I lived there as a lad Harehills Road was once partyville for those from Harehills, Chapeltown, the Gipton and East End Park. Pubs, clubs, eateries, cinemas, it had the lot, and all in a five minute walk. Now it is just fried chicken takeaways (some of them exceedingly good btw), charity shops, nail bars, sari shops and phone shops.

The Leicester police have described these events as "unplanned protests".
How mealy mouthed and pathetic.
They can't bring themselves to tell the truth, which is that these events are violent sectarian riots. Unplanned protests indeed!
Minimise, minimise, minimise.

I can just visualise it now, someone calls 999 and says "Come quick, there's a right unplanned protest going on outside! They've just set fire to a car!".

In olden times they were called race riots, but nowadays we have to be careful not to offend the sensibilities of da commnuitis, innit.

It certainly doesn't fit the narrative that those for whom diversity is expected to work cannot be both a majority and racist.

Hence the attempt to avoid any reporting of it.

This whole situation is one of the least British things we do today. Even Football only generated a rammy on match day. Anything after that was deemed as excess violence for the sake of violence and frowned upon.

This kind of stuff just, grates.
