The sound of silence

Some things aren't getting reported very much.
Last month 24 people were charged with historic child sex offences in Bradford. The story was on the Mail website.
Today the mail carried another story about gangs in Huddersfield. This has been a real eye opener. People have been stabbed in the street and one man has has his hand cut off when he was sitting outside in a working man's club beer garden.
The point is, I live less then twenty miles from these places and this is the first I've heard of it. There has been nothing that I've seen on the local or national TV news.
On local "news" shows we get very little news; if you want to know what happened in West Yorkshire today, you'd never find out from watching Look North.
These stories aren't "appropriate", I suppose. I would have thought that the scale of offending and violence was worthy of mention, but obviously not.

Has Wakey been cut off from the outside world?

The Bradford story has been in all the MSM from last week. The Huddersfield story from August was only in "some" media such as Metro, Star and ITV, but not on Sky or the BBC.

Having said that, there is definitely an agenda to minimise these violent crimes when a certain 'community' is involved. Many noises are made by the authorities about how they are going to tackle these things, but that's all they are: "noise".

Look North is the precursoe to The One Show where only feelgood stories are allowed. It has nothing to do with "news".

Yes, the Huddersfield machete attack was reported in the DM - I didn't read the details, the headlines were enough.
Society continues to be breaking down and I can't see any good outcome on the horizon.
