It has now been cleared?
I said to MrsC when I heard this that the rumour about a man dying from diptheria was 100% going to be more than a rumour. Sure enough the Home Office is now admitting what they had previously denied; that a Manston inmate "may" have died from diptheria.
Which is very probably why the site has been closed down. Nothing to do with overcrowding but to try and prevent an outbreak there, and to get the site deep cleaned.
Let's hope none of the other charmers there had it too, because they've now been dispersed all over the country.
Why these people aren't checked for disease when they turn up I'll never know.
