You'll have a lot harder time removing the legacy of Sunak's decisions.

Mind you the last time we had a chancellor who took over from the PM, the consequences were quite large. He turned up at the signing of the Lisbon Treaty late and hoping to be missed by the press. They were waiting for him.

The Lisbon Treaty enshrined, for the first time, the Right of a member state to leave the EU......

Chancellors who take over from PM's....

I don't see the point of Boris Johnson attempting to come back as Prime Minister. He had his chance and he blew it. The conditions may not have been ideal with COVID etc. but in the end it was his own flawed character that gave others the opportunity to bring him down.

Nevertheless, he did manage to win a majority of over 80 for the Conservative Party, unlike Rishi, who seems to have slid in through the back door without the mandate of the Party members.
