An inconvenient truth on the mini budget

Truss was forced to step down after the "disastrous" mini budget. She stepped down on Oct 20th.

The UK economy grew in November, the first time in 4 months.

The BOE was forced to intervene to stop traders crashing the market. Today we learn that in unwinding that intervention they made a £3.8bn profit on the sales.

We can contrast Sunak and Hunt's performance as time goes on but it will not be as good.

I thought I'd say it because this little bit of truth, as we drop into recession, will be lost.

Good.

The BoE sold bonds to help sure up some pension funds at risk of collapsing following Trussenomics and has made a bit of a profit in the process.

Sounds good to me.

Shame Truss and Kwartengmess lost us about £35bn in the first place. That's the inconvenient truth attempting to be hidden.

Ah yes, the tax cuts which were aborted very quickly after. The cuts which were to stimulate the economy for the full year but were pulled. Then the "think tank" which sticks the £30bn label on Truss says the other half of the £60bn are due to the economy "not growing".

So let me get this straight. The think tank says we lost £30bn on extremely short term tax cuts which were reversed, but then claims that another £30bn black hole exists because we haven't stimulated the economy. Which is exactly what these cuts were to do.

Truss didn't do anything to the economy. She didn't have time and Hunt is backing out all of what she did do.

But whatever story keeps you happy.

Any story that has the Toxics scrabbling about for excuses (or reinterpretation) regarding their (numerous) disasters keeps me more than happy. Plenty more to go at, so keep 'em coming, but it's actually a crying shame that it is such a long list.

Not as long as the list was in 1979. Look where that took us. Some liked it, many hated it.

I'm not obsessing over it. I'm just observing.
