Davos man

The World Economic Forum is having their annual beano in Davos, Switzerland right now.
Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves have been invited, just as Sunak, Cameron, Blair, Mandelson etc etc etc were all invited before them.

That's where power lies now. Foreign billionaires have much more influence over UK politicians than UK voters do.

Here's the definition of Davos man.
The term ‘Davos Man’ was coined by the political scientist Samuel Huntingdon to describe a certain kind of international global elite who, as he put it, ‘have little need for national loyalty, view national boundaries as obstacles that thankfully are vanishing, and see national governments as residues from the past whose only useful function is to facilitate the elite’s global operations’.

A very accurate description. Want to know why none of our politicians ever restrict immigration? There's the reason.

Ah yes, those "global operations".

It fits nicely with what I said in the falling Birth Rate thread and "growth": ... they want to reverse the process so that they can take up ever more finite resources so that some of them can put an extra zero or two in front of the decimal point of their already outrageous fortunes.

They do not care about humans or humanity... all they want is more and more money. And all the while they kid us that we "need" their latest tat. The big problem is that many of us fall for it.

What I have never been able to get my head round is their desire for more riches. For me there comes a point where another £1, £100 or £1,000,000 will make no material difference to their lives except for them to crow "my bank account's bigger than your bank account - so there".

If you borrow 100k from your banker your banker owns you. If you borrow 100m from your banker, you own the banker.

Money is power. It appears that some people can never get enough power. The shift in wealth from the 90%/10% to closer to 50:50 has not removed the power and privilege. It just moved it from 10% to 0.1%.

Ah, but if I wander into my bank with my £10k and ask for £1m to produce food I will be shown the door, but if I am a billionaire and ask for the same to produce red widgets with blue winglets they will be all over me.

Why? Because we mugs will buy the red widgets with blue winglets because their paid social influencers tell us that we need them. Then we will go to McD or KFC.

We are our own worst enemies.
