The next village to us has been a bit lively lately.

At the rugby match last week there was a fight in the crowd with one man being knocked out.
Graffiti appeared round the village accusing a local man of some vile things. Said individual reckoned he knew who was responsible and at school turning out time went down there and took an axe to the graffiti artist's car.

On a lighter (but sad) note, the landlord of the local pub has developed dementia.
This has led him to come downstairs and walk amongst the assembled diners and drinkers dressed only in his underpants.

What next?

I was watching a programme last night about what Yorkshire Water are discharging into our rivers. It was looking at the Wharfe up at Ilkley, so quite a rural area, and it was disgusting. Goodness knows what goes into the Aire and Calder once they have passed through the industrial towns and cities of West Yorkshire.

So true, Kaz.

In the show a local man was snorkelling in the river and bagging some of the things being discharged - tampons, nappies, wet wipes etc.. Now it is fine to have a go at the water companies, but those things should never be in the sewage in the first place. They are down to people discarding them inappropriately - by the side of the road, in gullies and culverts.

"We" are part of the problem, but it serves us well to absolve ourselves and blame the water companies.
