I don't know if you saw the first episode of the four part series about the Horizon scandal, aired last night, but if you haven't, do try to see it. It will leave you speechless and your blood boiling, which was interestingly the general consensus of the critic reviews, across the spectrum, from the Guardian and the Evening Standard to the Telegraph and the DM.

OK, it's a little bit clunky at times - sledgehammer on a nail sort of thing - but Toby Jones, Monica Dolan and Will Mellor were magnificent in the leading roles of sub-postmasters caught up in the miscarriage of justice.

Three things to take from it:
Do not trust modern technology. How many other large computer systems out there are simply not fit for purpose?
Do not trust big corporations. They will hide the truth and lie to protect themselves.
Do not trust British justice. Appalling that so many innocent people were final and jailed over this.

Apparently the Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi appears in later episodes playing himself ..... be interesting to see his role in it.

Me too - I listened to a BBC4 podcast about it some time ago, was furious then and am furious all over again. Thankfully that could not have happened us as the system is different here, also being a smaller country postmasters know the people in their various area offices. We were always aware of head office people protecting their own little patch but postmasters like Edward were never afraid to take no nonsense and stand up to them. Whenever you would have a robbery (we had two), the default position was firstly to see if you could be blamed for not following security protocols, regardless of your shock and distress.

That's shocking too Osc and I didnt realise you had had two robberies, how terrifying

We have felt well out of it since we closed the door 11 years ago!!
