How much money has British Gas actually made? In the six months to 30 June 2023, British Gas made an operating profit (EBIT) of £969 million, compared with £98 million the year before, on revenues of £11,889 million (versus £5,090 million in H1 22).

Nice work if you can get it.

Oh, come on, the super-talented directors have to be paid, and the shareholders' dividends don't come out of fresh air.

It's only fair that the customer's cough up.

If only there was some other way of running national infrastructure such as transport, energy, water, the air we breathe... Imagine if they were run for US rather than THEM.

It really narks me. BG moved me to an online payment system, which I never asked for.
Now when I try to log on I can only access my Electric account with them, not both my electric and gas accounts.
I tried to start a webchat but was told I was 166th in the queue.
So I didn't bother.

Create an email with your issues and save it as draft then send it on the hour every day till a wonk from BG responds. It worked for me with Scot Power.

I refuse to use chat.

As an aside, send a copy and details to your MP.

This seems to be a trend. I've just had a similar type of problem with the Skipton B/S.
You will go paperless and move online. If you don't want to do it, we will make it very, very, very difficult for you to stay as you are.
Narking beyond belief.

Going paperless doesn't bother me that much as I am on the internet quite a few times every day, and I check my emails at least three times each day.

What really bugs me, and what got me into the big argument with SP, is the constant push to do every damned thing via phone apps or "chat". I simply will not have apps with comprehensive personal or financial details on my phone.

I have told many of them: "Go paperless if you want, but at least give ME a choice of paperless system that I am comfortable with." Customer choice should be the default.
