It is not as though Kate made it look as though Charlotte was giving us the finger or that the Queen had an extra chin removed. She just "enhanced" the photos.
We all do it, all the time. Our phones and cameras have programs and apps to do it and we are encouraged to go ahead. We can remove red-eye or sharpen or blur areas at the push of a button. We can clone or crop and change the contrast and brightness and colourise to our heart's content. It's the modern way.
So, Kate took some fairly ordinary photos and wanted to make then look a bit better - a bit more "professional". What is the BIG problem the media is making out?
I'll bet any money that many of the photos taken by their own staffers for their own articles have been "tweaked" in some way or other. Very few "raw" images appear on the Internet or in publications nowadays.
