Saundra, when all this price cap stuff started a few years back I swapped all my bulbs to LEDs. I do two or three clothes / bedding washes per week and the only other things running on electric are the fridge-freezer, iron and kettle.- that's not changed much.

My electricity bill is now about £1.20 per day and that's down from about £2.60 - a big saving. My gas has now gone from auto / thermostat to manual. I now turn the heating on and off when I need it and not when the thermostat thinks I am cold. It is no faff as the room display, which sits on my desk, is wi-fi so I just hit the on / off button.

My total annual bill for a six room flat is about £500 - £550 below what the "experts" and media tell me it should be, and that is mostly down to the lights. Mind you, I am religious about turning lights off.

Vodka is the answer. It doesn't need a kettle. The orange in the fridge is already cold. It helps you sleep - sort of. It numbs your senses and makes you think: 'Nuclear War?' When's that? Do I need a ticket or is 'Ground Zero' free. I am infested, where do fruit flies come from - I never eat fruit. If the climate is getting warmer why is there snow? Are potholes the start of an Alien invasion to cripple us?

More questions than answers. ;)

I am an inveterate 'switcher offer'. I blame mum's "Turn that light off!" from when I was younger.

I only fill the kettle with the water I want to heat - not full. I do full wash loads, not bits and pieces, and I dry shirts / T shirts on hangers so that they do not need ironing. Bedding and towels? Who irons them? It's like ironing socks or underwear!. Once used they are back to when they came out of the washing machine.

I save a fortune being lazy / sensible. ;) :D
