Nuclear power.

At long last we have a sensible plan for this to take place.

Labour's idea opens up the possibility for small modular reactors (SMRs) to be installed around the country. They take up very little area compared to windmills and solar farms and provide 24/7 baseload power all year round. Major cities could have their own reacftors on their doorsteps reducing the need for transmission lines - pylons.

Nuclear waste? Much can be reprocessed for further use as we do now, the rest can be vitrified (encased in glass) and dumped. We do not need expensive facilities to do this as we have deep mines under the North Sea, just off the east coast, where it could be stored forever. It is geologically stable and no terrorists or malicious enemies could ever get to it.

Just get on with it.

OK I give them a high score for this. At least someone with a brain is working on it. I do give credit where it is due.

I may be being unfair here (cries of "no, never"), but I get the impression that Mad Ed Milibean isn't very keen on nuclear, however sensible it is.
Time will tell.
