I see that Tim Yeo is the latest "victim" of a Times sting, poor chap.

What is now beginning to happen in defence of the situation is that contact from individuals, or petitions from groups of the electorate, are being conflated with lobbying - as though there is no difference between them.

I see that Cameron is to attend Bilderberg along with Ken Clarke, George Osborne, Mandelson, Balls and Shirley Williams. Lobbying them will, of course, be forbidden.

I would raise a glass to Tim Yeo getting a kicking. This is the man who was fully on board with John Major's "Back to basics" and "family values" agenda, until the press revealed that Yeo had another familly with a female Conservative councillor!

Yesterday I read a bit more about Tim Yeo. He is chairman of the "Energy and Climate Change" committee. He also gets paid more than six figures for his services by 'green' energy companies. Surely, this is a blatant conflict of interest? Even more so because he also has substansial shares in these companies; if the government insists on a massive carbon reduction program, the shares in green energy companies go up, making Tim Yeo an even richer man.
This is outrageous; how can it be allowed to happen?

are required to pass any law to stop it.

Sadly, honesty and decency are becoming extremely rare qualities nowadays.

Well Aggers I learned today that landlords are being paid £600 per month by councils on top of the rents they charge (that are also paid by the councils) let only to immigrants

As was the case today with Lords Stirrup and Dannatt. To the man in the street they are as guilty as hell of being bent, but according to the rules, rules made by the Lords, they are Persil white and clean.

What is needed is a Commissioner for Standards (both Houses) who is remote from Parliament, in a separate building, and truly independent. S/he has not to be a Civil Servant, nor ever been one, and has to have the powers to call in the police if necessary.
