Forcing a plane to land.

To my mind this is hijacking, and is illegal under International law, no matter how it is carried out.

On Saturday an Egyptair plane en route to the States was escorted down to Prestwick by the RAF due to a threat to set it on fire. It might only have been a note left in the toilet, but these threats have to be taken seriously.

It now transpires that five Syrians on the plane have claimed political asylum in the UK. If any of these people are implicated with the note they should be charged with hijacking, but fist they should be sent back to Egypt to be charged there - they are not our problem. Also, under asylum law, they should have claimed asylum in the fist safe country they entered i.e. Egypt.

I am sick to death of the UK being seen as, and acting as, as soft touch.

I hadn't realised that about the Syrians.

<sigh>

Problems mount by the day. 3rd world war within six months? nothing would surprise me, look at the state of Iraq thanks to Tony B'Liar, when I lived there life was pleasant and I found the Iraqi people most friendly, B'Liar destroyed the country all for OIL, as we found the Iranians when we worked there under the rule of the Shah, every thing changed when Khomeni who was protected for years by the French and came to power when the Shah was deposed he then returned to rule Iran. Syria? oh dear we are in a cleft stick, damned if we do and damned if we don't.. I cannot look at the suffering, babies and young children rotting with disease and hunger.. I would take the orphans into our care, far more important than B'Liars idea of letting in millions from Bulgaria and Romania and these Somalies we read of who are creating problem after problem
