..... again!

Venables.

A parole board has deemed him safe to be released, but what if its members are wrong - it would not be the first time? What if he goes on to commit more crimes? Who pays? He has form, and so does his parole board. The last time he was deemed safe to be released he let his paedophile tendencies lead him to commit some despicable crimes.

Prisoners like him should only be released if the parole board can prove that the prisoner is 100% safe. The only way I can ever see that happening is if they are put under a similar law as corporate manslaughter in that if they turn out to be wrong they are arrested and charged. It might focus them a bit more and what is safe for society and not on the pleadings of the bleeding heart brigades.

I'm genuinely surprised that this second release has come so soon after his return to prison. I thought he would have been held for another 10 years at least, until he was in his 40's. Someone's taking quite a risk making this decision, and it also beggars the question how many more dangerous offenders less well known than Venables are getting "second chances" after reoffending .....

The prisons are full. Some have to be let out before anyone else can be sent down.
