put away your tray tables, switch off all your electronic equipment.

And your watch!!!

Now that Samsung and Apple are preparing to deluge us with smart watches, which have wifi, Bluetooth, headphone sockets and can be used for streaming media and reading ebooks, you won't even be able to tell the time whilst your plane is landing. In fact you'll be told not to turn you watch back on again until well into the terminal building....

That's going to be a laugh when it begins.... Although, I assume that this will finally drive some re-thinking on electronic devices in aircraft.

Whilst it was just phones or Kinde's, people were OK with that. But your watch? Time for the airline industries to catch up with technology. I shalnt hold my breath....

Yes they will probably need charging in the range of 8-10 hours depending on use. Some might even get up to 24 hours. I already carry portable battery usb chargers for my 3 phones and my kindle. So not an issue for me. Except I won't be buying one of these any time soon.

I was just amused by the thought of telling people to turn their watches off. Over the years I've remarked on how my watches (many with multiple functions), probably contributed more to the electronic hash, but they did not have an off switch....

Also, even funnier is how do you actually switch them off. Whilst they will have a flight mode, they are unlikely to have a fully off mode. They will almost certainly only sleep like most ebook readers. When is off really OFF? Who would want to wait 3 minutes for their watch to "boot" anyway?

I can see it 10 years from now. "Please turn your watch off, your glasses off, your wallet off....... Last time I was forced to put 1kg of "luggage" from my hand luggage into my case, I put in one of my phones and completely forgot to turn it off....

The world is a changing as they say....

The list of gizmos, gadgets and products I do not need to function grows by the day. A smartwatch is right up there with bottled water and a smartphone weather app.
