I wrote a reply to your post Saundra, no damned politician will get my vote until those expenses get sorted out, and the mammoth payouts for failure. Expenses for their first and second homes. One Con claimed over 5,000 pounds.
Allowances for furnishings j Lewis, £10.000 pay rise, they work no more than five months a year, off on another jolly at Christmas.
Most have second jobs directorships. Money for old rope.

We are, alledgedly, a "representative" democracy.
In fact we aren't.
Our MP's see themselves as an elite who are quite entitled to take all our decisions for us, because they think that we are all too stupid to realise what is good for us.

The problem, as I see it, is that they see themselves as "running the country". In fact they are representing their constituents wishes in the running of the country. Something they like to skate over.

Now, of course, if you are running the country, then you're a "director" of the biggest company of all aren't you. So you should be entitled to big wages, perks, benefits, long holidays, etc...

Quite frankly, and I've thought about this for some time, and I think that our parliamentary system needs to be scrapped.

I don't see that we need all those MPs. Surely it would be better if we just voted for Heads of the various departments?

Also, any important decisions that might affect the future of this country should be be decided by a plebiscite.

In my wildest moments, I often feel that our interests might be better looked after by a Dictator.

"Common Purpose" is already active saturating every department of importance. It will be interesting to see whether Frank gets a response with respect to their charitable status!!

I think Suff has a good point - they are supposed to be in parliament to carry out the wishes of those who voted for them, not to carry out their own!

This is disgraceful Saundra, when so many people will struggle to heat their one and only home this winter xx
