Am I reading things right?

Mohammed Wotsit Mohamed, who escaped from a mosque dressed in a burkha after cutting off his electronic tag, was facing charges over 20 breaches of orders restricting his movement. Why wasn't he slammed up after breaking the first? He is a suspected terrorist FCOL!

And how did the UK Border Agency rack up a backlog of illegal immigrants and bogus asylum seekers and let them roam free? There are 432,029 of them, the population of a city the size of Bristol, and the whereabouts of most of them are unknown.

The incompetence of some of the managers of these services is astounding.

A terror suspect who changed into a burka to escape surveillance is suing the government over allegations of torture abroad, it has emerged.

Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed, 27, who was subject to an order which restricted his movements, left a London mosque in disguise on Friday.

Police were alerted when the tag was tampered with but Mr Mohamed fled.

It has now been revealed that Mr Mohamed is seeking compensation at the High Court.

Words just aren't enough.

Possibly the security services were hoping he would lead them to bigger fish? Unfortunately once he had the burqa on he became invisible - which is why they should be banned :(

Oh dear Kaz, must not upset the apple art...ban the burqa? Cheri B'liars sister would be really upset. I have lived in countries where only One Eye is visible and the wives walk behind their husbands when in public. Should we expats expose our arms we would be in trouble "When in Rome". This does not apply in this country

Don't start me off. Folks might say I'm racist.

And they might be right!

In WW2 racism was encouraged.

I found that statistic absolutely mind-boggling when it was mentioned (in passing ...) on the BBC News tonight.

I mean - they can't all be hiding in burqas ..... can they?

In Bradford they could, but then blokes in Bradf'd have always been odd.

Seriously though, these people have gone missing, and they are on top of the hundreds and thousands who are here legally.... another few Bristols.

It cannot continue, can it?

How come the authorities seem to know everything about UK born citizens - Having mislaid my P60 for that year I made an error about my 2011/2012 income on the forms for B's uni fees, and they were on that in a flash as they knew to a penny what is had actually been - and yet they can lose almost half a million illegals............... :x

Despite all the huffing and puffing at Westminster, there is no political will to stop immigration, or to remove illegal immigrants or bogus asylum seekers. That would take effort and money; and we seem to be short of both.

I am confused about National Insurance numbers and the part they play in all this. They are supposed to be unique, last a lifetime, and are necessary to gain access to all sorts of services and benefits.

Are there fake ones out there? This should not be the case. There should be a big file (database) with all the legit ones ever issued, and those cancelled on death, on it, so that an immediate check can be made. Has the system been monitored effectively? I suspect not.

Are there 'shared' NI numbers out there? Is there a type of 'identity theft' scam being carried out where one person with a legit number 'lends' it out to others? I suspect there is.

Are multiple applications being made by the same person using false documents? This was proved to be the case by, I think, Dispatches. Individuals were making multiple claims then selling the NI numbers on to illegals for huge sums of money.

Are Jobcentre staff being rigorous enough at identity interviews? Do they have the training and the means to thoroughly check the documents presented to them, and do they treat each applicant with at least a low level of suspicion? I do not think they do.
