I know that the marine sergeant who shot dead a wounded member of the taliban has been found guilty of murder; and it might be the right decision. But I can't get too excited about it. The taliban member in question would imo have done exactly the same (if not worse) had the situation been reversed.

It is not unique and it is not new. The 'goodies' and the 'baddies' have been doing it ever since men started fighting each other.

What is new is that the idiots recorded themselves - sound and vision - members of the TwitbookYouTube generation.

The man would probably have died from his injuries, but that is no justification.

It's about standards and adhering to discipline.

We should adhere to a higher standard.

End of.

I'm inclining towards the same opinion Cromwell, but the little Jiminy Cricket on my shoulder tells me that Suff is right :?

The problem is what is the point of treating war like a game of cricket, with rules, when you are fighting that extremist mentality :? :(

I don't know what to think.

The enemy is the enemy. If you kill one before capture - that's all right.
If after capture, then it's wrong.

You could argue - Why bother to take prisoners, then?

I don't know.

Marine A's "problem" was that he was recorded doing what he did, and saying what he said.

Quite honestly, from what I've seen reported of the case, assuming you accept the general principle of "war crimes", I can't see how they could have found him anything other than guilty.

Perhaps it raises a deeper question as to why troops are being made to carry video and sound recording equipment when on active duty in war zones ......

Why the hell we do not learn the lessons that War creates War I will never know. Millions of innocents killed and maimed
"For what"?
What actually have we Achieved by going to war thanks to B'Liar in Iraq ? Millions? Dead, dispossessed, maimed, a country destroyed ruined, deaths every day from dissidents and factions killing innocent people men women and children.
Afghanistan. For every terrorist killed a hundred more will be recruited (yes even from the UK where we have granted them sanctuary) . B 'Liar said we were there to get rid of the Poppy Fields... They are more prolific now than they ever were.
Power crazy politicians those maniacs destroy, they do not build. And they live on the fat proceeds they receive.. The biggest insult to this country is to refer to B'Liar as a Peace Envoy. And our men and women die on the battlefields.FOR WHAT???
