An interesting and thought-provoking article in today's Telegraph which touches on a topic we've debated more than once in this forum!

Very true Ossie. I didn't smack my children but I was, and still am, a "firm but fair" kind of parent - they know the boundaries!!
I have a friend on Facebook who seems to let her small child run riot, sleep where she drops and watch whatever she chooses on tv
Not my idea of parenting.............

The only ones who benefited, or profited, from the 'new thinking' were the first and inter-generation children prior to the second generation, From that point on it fell to pieces.
The studies of the first 1.5 generations did show that their performance and well-being improved, and because the studies were positive it was taken up with enthusiasm. Here in the UK the Institute for Education was in the van with its child centred learning becoming the norm. I'll say no more!
Now we, not just Sweden, are into the post positive period. The children of the first generation(s) produced the proto monsters, they went on to produce what we have today.... and so it will continue.
