A timely piece of information

It's nice to know that the Special Relationship is going so well.

So well in fact that we helped the US attack the EU institutions data security with one of the most sophisticated viruses ever seen. Nice to know that the reality (the UK has the very best talents in the software development business), is being recognised.

Somehow I don't believe that this will help Cameron to negotiate concessions from the EU though....     Which, funnily enough, is kind of what I wanted..

The information continues to filter out.

The targets, or lack of them, is very interesting.... Someone forgot the first basic principle. When creating a solution to compromise your friends, you need to compromise some of your own people to avoid suspicion....

Ah, The Intercept, publication of choice for conspiracy theorists followed up by innuendo, but no hard evidence, from the Independent.

I reckon its all the work of a spotty teenage lad in his bedroom in Cleckheaton.

Anyone care to prove me wrong?

Many news outlets are covering the whole thing. This was just the latest.

However, consider, spotty teenagers are in it for the thrill. Business can more easily buy the information they need. Criminals will never go and do the same thing over and over again, refining the same technique, because that is the way to jail. They get in, get your money and move on to something else.

Only nation states have the need and the will to do this kind of thing. You can't put a nation state in jail. This kind of programming, to this level of sophistication, is one of the most boring types of work on the planet. OK the initial crack is fun, but all the rest? Boooooring.

And, after all, GCHQ have already admitted it. Remember they admitted they had intercepted Angela Merkel's phone calls? One of the specific things this virus does is to attack physical and mobile phone exchanges and penetrate them and return information. Germany is one of the countries heavily impacted.

This is not conjecture. Only the culprit is. I'd say we've already admitted it....

Great to have the UK as your ally....  8-)
