Security in France

Postby Suff » 18 Jan 2015, 20:46

On my way home and back again this weekend I was looking closely to see what differences there would be at the train stations. I'm not flying at the moment, it's too close from Brussels to Paris and I'm better off taking the train in time if not in price...

I noticed that the original team of 3-4 people containing one sergeant with a pistol and 2-3 gruns with rifles unloaded has changed. It's now teams of 6-7, ALL with assault rifles, ALL with magazines on which I assume means loaded with live rounds.

Also teams of police working in parallel with them.

I'm sure there will not be much trouble until the presence drops. Then we might see violence again. Right now it would be a short step to Allah without the murder in-between....

The security services have an almost impossible job.

It took some time for the IRA to realise that it was a stupid game to attack well defended targets and the capital when there were other cities and provincial towns to have a go at. They also learned not to do one attack after another, but to wait until we got complacent through security fatigue.

A lot will now depend on the mentality of the Islamist nut jobs.

I'm certainly glad that it's not my responsibility to make decisions in this matter,
for the simple reason that the measures that I decided were necessary would not
be considered acceptable by most people. True democracy is incapable of dealing
with this sort of problem in my opinion.

When I joined the Army I talked to a guy who had been in Aden. He said that the locals had been constantly rioting, firing off small arms and generally causing mayhem. Then they got a new warrant officer. He lined up the armoured vehicles across the street and the next time they tried it he told his troops to open fire.

End of riots. End of violence.

Something like that is eventually going to happen here. Right now we simply don't use much power or force to try and stop this. When we do there are going to be a lot of dead bodies and a lot of people wondering if murdering innocent civilians was such a good idea.....

The problem I see is that we have taught the Islamic community that there is no price to the larger community for this kind of fanaticism. That is our fault.

I thought it was quite a reasonable letter, and the fact that Sky news leads on the fact that the Conservatives have to "defend" it because the Muslim council of Britain doesn't like it says volumes about Sky news.

Look, just this weekend Boko Haram have gone into Cameroon and kidnapped more people. In Niger ten Churches were burned down this weekend and five people killed, by Muslims. Hundreds of Yazidis in Iraq were release by ISIS, but hundreds of their young women are being used as sex slaves by ISIS Muslims.

And the Muslim Council of Britain are upset because they think they are being "singled out?" How utterly pathetic of them.

Cromwell, the BBC used the 'defend' word as well. What does he have to defend?

He also told CBS in the States that people have a right to be offensive as far as religion is concerned. Quite right, religion is a choice, but I won't waste my time waiting for him to support the next Christian or Jew or Hindu who stands up to Islam. Unfortunately such things are now classed as 'Hate Crimes' and his government supports such things.

As one would expect, Kaz, but what about the average town centre or remote railway line?

The targets are numerous and, largely, unprotectable.

It might make us feel protected if high risk places have a visible security presence, but there are so many other places where such security is not available.

If I wanted to carry out a terrorist attack in the UK my choice would be the W. or E. Coast main line railways. A detonator some metres forward of the passenger cars and some cheap shit explosives would do the job perfectly.

It is time for us to wake up to what could happen.
