Why are they stopping people who want to go to Syria?

It's a waste of time. They should just let them go, but make jolly sure they never come back.

Couldn't agree more. I'm also concerned about the madness of these people being prosecuted for "wanting to commit terrorism". They are going to come out of jail in a couple of years' time both hardened and totally radicalised.

I don't get it either. If these terrorists hate us and our values so much then let them go and not come back.

I also do not understand the almost mea culpa like breast beating of the police and security services. It is not as though they had any part in turning these idiots into terrorists.

However, what annoys me the most is the attention they keep getting in the media. That jihadi b@st@rd and the three, now four, jihadi brides have been turned into grotesque celebrities with the coverage they have received.

The calculation is that the authorities think that it is safer to portray them as victims who need help, rather than little ****'s.

In order to maintain "comyoooonity cohension", don't yer know. It's madness.

I read in commentary in one of the papers, that the apology from the Metropolitan police might be a pre-curser for compensation. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the next step.

If the Met apologise Hogan-Howe wants putting in the loony bin.
What have they got to apologise about?

Those three that went off to be jihadi brides stole family jewellery to buy their plane tickets, didn't give the Met's letter to their parents and lied to their parents.

Their parents have a hell of a lot more to apologise for, if you ask me!

A problem for the Home Office, security services and police is that they have all made apologetic sounding statements for their actions, thus opening themselves up to questioning and, of course, claims for compensation. That is what I was hinting at earlier.

I must admit I'm in two minds about this.

First, do we export our worst to the rest of the world or do we have a duty of care to bring them back and lock them up? OK if they are other nationals who "gained" british citizenship on the 5 year track then fine, strip them of their citizenship and get rid of them.

Second, I don't want them and I don't want them back. I think they should go and, hopefully, get buried there one way or another.

I don't think anyone should be apologising for them going over there. OK if we find them and they are ours, then we have to work out who should deal with them. The problem is we could probably export half a million of them without trying very hard and that would mean an army of such size that we'd have to go in there and deal with them on the ground. Putting our troops lives at risk.

Catch 22 isn't it???

So we export 500,000 of them. They are still not an army, just a bunch of idiots. They will all not have a Kalashnikov or military training or previous work with modernised tanks and APCs. Basically they will be armed gangs with little or no command and control.

A professional army would wipe them out in weeks.

Let them go to Syria..... and let the civilised world send in the pros to go after them.
