Labour Party's pledges and the shower curtain

Postby Rodo » 04 Apr 2015, 05:36

This taken from an article by Grace Dent in the Independent this morning.

There's only really one thing to do when facing an election armed with a leader as charismatic as a mildewed shower curtain and a party which even hardline socialists recoil from: promise the goddam earth. The Labour Party’s many, many pre-election pledges form an irresistible-sounding utopia. Frozen energy prizes, capped rents, no more rail fare increases, increased free childcare, all patients to see their GP within 48 hours! Wow, this is incredible! We thought there was a recession on. Why has that Chancellor dude been being so mean for the past four years?

Labour will fund this bright future by a 50p tax for everyone earning over £150k, a mansion tax for anyone with a home worth more than £2m and, OK, the rest is unclear. But who wouldn’t want to live in a country where all children are given ‘relationship classes’, all health and social care is integrated into ‘whole person care’ and local residents can decide the police’s crime fighting priorities. It’s almost as if they’re making this stuff up on the hoof.

+++++++++++I just loved the bit about the mildewed shower curtain!!!!!!!!

I feel sorry for us if he gets in!

Like I said before about the only thing Miliband hasn't promised is a KFC family bucket and guaranteed lottery win for all!

Hmm ...... If he did that, he'd have three cast-iron votes from this household .....

The BBC has just run a three part one hour advert for KFC so "no thanks", and I already have a mildewed shower curtain.

Nothing I've heard or read lately has made me change my mind.

I still intend to vote for UKIP.

But I think it would suit me better if they had, instead of a General Election,
an election to elect a Dictator. I can think of many people who could do a far
better job at looking after our interests than the present bunch of politicians,
who, in my opinion, have completely fouled their nest.

Rodo, they forgot the bit about Banker's bonuses which are already taxed at 55%..... More Labour "Wishful Thinking" (policy).

I don't know about "mildewed shower curtain". To me he has less charisma than the BBC Test Card.....

My gloomy prediction is for a narrow victory for a coalition of Labour, SNP and Liberals and we are never going to escape from Europe. :( :( :(
