who's kidding whom???

As I read my way through the verbiage of the election coverage, two things strike me pretty hard.

Fist is the current polls and the belief, still, that the Tories will be the largest party in a hung parliament.

Now given that Clegg threw his toys out of the pram and refused to allow the redress of the totally unfair boundary changes made by Labour, how do they get it that the Tories will beat labour on seats when, with more than 6% larger vote, in 2010, the Tories didn't make an overall majority?? In any kind of reasonable representation, it would probably work that way. But the Tories have to get 3% more vote just to stand still. The current gap is 1%.

Although the total hammering Labour are likely to take in Scotland may help balance this out.

Second is Nicola Sturgeon and her "get the Tories out by any means".

Does she really mean it? I don't think so. Because if she truly meant it, she would tell her voters to return Labour candidates in every seat in Scotland....

Keep on going Nicky dear....

I must admit the BS is growing so thick on the ground you could feed your garden for a decade on it. Well it's 2 days now. 3 and we'll know the result...

Thank heavens for that.

The polls are all over the place. It depends upon who is doing the polling, who is asked and where they live.

We have had sleeves rolled up, tablets of stone, and promises of jam tomorrow without anyone explaining where the money is coming from to pay for it..

For supposedly the most important election in decades, in terms of who will win, the campaigns have been run like sitcoms.

I just hope that someone can form a government of some sorts. I couldn't go through any more campaigns if we need a second election.

I can see UKIP making big inroads in previously safe seats all over the country.

Maybe not enough to do a lot but certainly enought to make the others sit up and listen.

From what I see hear and read many are supporting them simply because they are saying what many people want to hear on many issues.

OK they have little or no political experience compared to the big boys but they too will learn, and fast, just like anyone in a new job has to learn to succeed.

I am outside the system here in the Isle of Man but still watch as it all has an effect on us and our profitability and success or failure in the years to come.

I must admit that I find the whole UKIP thing quite interesting. They are going to get around 14% of the vote but all the main parties want to try and fob them off as the lunatic fringe of racists and crackpots.

This is kind of where the SNP was until 2007. Then they took the Scottish Parliament and have done nothing but rise since.

Whatever happens in this election and I don't have a good feeling about it, UKIP will be a story which will not go away and will continue to dominate elections for the rest of my life (I expect).

I believe that the EU elections will do for UKIP what the Scottish elections did for the SNP. Namely raise the profile of "politicians" who are elected by the population, to the point where they can no longer be ignored. Once UKIP get more than 5 seats in Westminster, allied to more and more votes in the EU elections, the only way they have left to go is up.

Notably a Tory think tank is finally saying what Cameron should have been saying since day 1 of the campaign. "If you are a Tory, live in a Labour marginal and don't want to see Labour get back in, Vote UKIP!".
