Found guilty of Jill Dando's murder he spent eight years in jail. At his retrial he was unanimously found not guilty by a jury containing eight women.
Now he has been refused compensation for his time in jail because he is not "innocent enough" to be compensated.
So, he is not "guilty enough" to be in jail for murder, but he is not "innocent enough" to be compensated for the time spent there: for murder. How does that work?
Meanwhile, back on Fantasy Island, some no-mark Z list slebs can get £s hundred of thousands for having their phones hacked.

I haven't seen or read anything about this but I wonder if he was, in the end, found not guilty on some sort of technicality ie: the police did something wrong making some evidence unuseable. Rather than being found not guilty because new evidence had come to light which proved that he could not have done it.

I think the argument also runs along the lines that if the judge had conducted the trial "fairly" and if the jury had been "reasonable", then he would have definitely been found guilty, so no compensation.
Which speaks volumes about our criminal justice system, in my opinion .....

At his retrial he was cleared because the evidence was circumstantial - local nutter, misfit, loner. The CPS reviewing lawyer Hilary Bradfield said: “Mr George now has the right to be regarded as an innocent man, but that does not mean it was wrong to bring the case.
http://www.cps.gov.uk/news/press_releases/151_08/Not that long ago he would have been hanged!
Innocent enough, but not high enough up the food chain to be compensated for wrongful imprisonment.

If he did it there was I think a possible motive which I have never seen anywhere ie that Jill was getting married. There was something odd about the gun too, the police have not released much about it and I wonder if they found the bullet and the case if it was ejected.
