A matter of timing

This train attacked by a terrorist on Friday, is on the router I use from Brussels to Paris. This Friday I travelled late and from Lille, but other months I've travelled on Thalys on this route.
Car 12 is first class. I'm often in car 12.
Not that it will stop me travelling on the trains, but certainly the level of caution has to raise.
Kudos to the Air Force officer who took the gunman down and the rest who stood up and kicked him senseless.

Yes, a sobering thought, Suff. We never know what's round the corner, but we can't live our lives based on worrying about it.
November 1974, I phoned a mate to see if he wanted to go into the Birmingham city centre for a few drinks. No, he said, let's watch Mastermind on the telly, then we'll have a pint at the Hen and Chickens on the Hagley Road. Which we did, wondering at all the emergency service vehicles flying past us into town. That was the evening of the Birmingham pub bombings, and I'll leave you to guess which two pubs in the city we usually drank in .....

Gosh it is a sobering thought. But that is their goal, to destroy our way of life and spread terror and panic and in doing so lowering resistance to their take overs.
Stay safe is such a pointless phrase as we never know what's just around the corner for us, but I'll say it anyway.
Stay safe everyone

In the light of these random attacks, I can only wonder why the media has been so harsh in its criticism of Nigel Farage when he described a fifth column in this country.

Life is very often a matter of chance, or good or bad luck. One day in Spring 1975 I walked out of a store in Manchester city centre (I think it was Woolworth's) and got on a bus back to my student digs. Roughly a quarter of a hour later an IRA bomb went off in the store, injuring several people.
Bill, a man I know, went out in Wakefield with his friends and got talking to a nice young lady, and spent the night with her. His friends who he had got a ride into town with went home in their car and crashed it. They were all killed.
My late father was a fatalist and used to say when your number's up, it's up.

Because that is an uncomfortable truth; and the people who run the country prefer a comforting lie over an uncomfortable truth.

All I can do is quote and old RAF saying: "Be alert, the country needs lerts!"

Lerts, yes we needed them in the Army too. A Lert I shall be. Normally I read and listen to music. Now I'm going to have to forego that or do it in shifts.
As for 5th column? It's been a surmise of mine for a while now that if they have any tactical leadership at all, they're going to need to start fairly impressive insurgency in core EU countries pretty soon. I'm not talking a few bombs here or there, I'm talking about taking over an armoury or two and a weapons dump or two and starting what amounts to civil war.
After all if we are all fighting to resolve our own crises at home, we won't have the time or resources to stop them consolidating their gains in the ME...
Certainly that's what I'd do. If they don't then eventually they will be crushed. Not immediately, but eventually.

There are hot-spots in some UK cities where "Civil war lite" could well break out.
The authorities and media will no doubt describe them as 'riots' or 'disturbances' but those involved will know what they truly are.
