The ungrateful living.

Latest news is that the hordes have set fire to tents and equipment sent to protect them in Slovenia.

They do not like the way they are being treated and want more.... We can see what they are doing. They are using threats and intimidation to get their own way, and they will continue to do so once they are in.

My mind is now changing. If some of these people die from hypothermia and hunger they will have brought it on themselves. The help is there and it has been refused.... and, no, they will not be martyrs, just selfish oafs.

Mine too. I have my own views on how this unprecedented business should be dealt with.

But it's not my job to deal with it.

I had my opinions as to how this would play out and I believe this is only the very first round of the games and machinations which will go on.

Today the UN demanded that the UK take in refugees that landed at RAF Akrotiri because it was a UK base, the UK should take these people thousands of miles to the UK and resettle them.

If I were the base commander I'd take them 500m outside the base and close the gates and call the Cypriot Police to deal with them. Then I'd tell the UN that if they want to deal with these illegal immigrants then they are welcome to do so, outside UK military bases!

Then I'd secure the base from access from the sea and inform the coast guard of anyone who got into difficulties whilst trying to access the base from the sea, whilst watching to maintain the security of the base....

But that's just me.

There is a story today about heated tents being supplied to "women and children" at the Jungle camp in Calais. As most of the inhabitants therein are men, I wonder how that is going to pan out.

My take on all this is simple. If this is a humanitarian tragedy, then it is one that is caused by the people involved. This isn't like a typhoon or an earthquake causing massive humanitarian suffering to innocents. This is being caused by a load of people wanting to force their way into Europe for economic reasons.

To be brief - if they die in the winter, that's their lookout.

Anything you do to try and help, whether it be heated tents, or warm clothing and food for the winter, is only going to encourage their hopes and encourage even more to come next year.

So give them nothing and let them sort themselves out. I realise that this is harsh but I and many others am really fed up with this situation and with these people.

I'm inclined to agree, Cromwell. I'm not happy about the fact that there appears
to be many more men than women and children on the move, and this makes me
wonder whether this could amount to an invasion attempt by radicals, and bring
about serious problems for us in the future.

Aggers, reports the other day claimed the numbers in The Jungle were now 6,000.

The heated tents are for those in a centre for women and children, some 200 of them. That number could rise to 400 by the end of the year, but the total could also rise to many more thousands.

The numbers show that males make up almost 97% of the illegal immigrants.

You could be right.
