So the yolk looks 'pink'?? Yes, lovely!!

See with poached ones, I don't mind the white going into strings, cos you scoop them/it all up with the spoon anyway so it doesn't matter :)

I just cheated - I bought a poacher thing for the microwave and have just done one for my lunch - not too bad! The blurb says to cook for 45 seconds, but 30 is more than enough, next time I shall do 25 ;)

Well, if you'd all said the raggy, stringy white of the egg was acceptable then I can do them but I want to do them so they are the perfect poached egg. Chefs trim the raggy bits off with scissors-do that to mine and there's only the yoke left!

The only thing I can think to add, which has not been clearly said, is that the water should not be at a rolling boil it should have been brought to the boil then lowered to a gentle simmer.

Debbie, I bought some Poachies on Saturday and I've just had a lovely poached egg on toast for my dinner (the others had pasta :? ) - they're so easy to use :D

I've rediscovered the joys of poached eggs on toast, over the past two weeks, and I can cook them perfectly using the same method as WM with the addition of a tiny bit of vinegar.
I'm also a dab hand at fried eggs, again using the same method as WM.
I'm amazed I can actually cook something that Di can't!!!!!

Those who can, do. Those who can't make a mess. :) :D

The last time I made a poached egg in a pan of water all on its own I ended up with lots of raggedy white stringy bits and the actual poached egg that made it to my plate just comprised of the yolk!

I have to stock up on the poachie pouches. Shelby and I had a bit of a poached egg fest over the weekend.

I am going to look out for some of those little silicone mould things though as they will be cheaper in the long run if they are reusable.

I'd hate you and WM to think I was ignoring you :D But without the pc, on the galaxy I couldn't manage to get the quotes properly so gave up :D
Shaz you're welcome any time, just pop down (there might be flights to either Bournemouth or Southampton), poach me an egg or two - you could stay for dinner ;)

Well! Anyone see last night's Masterchef contestants making a complete mess of cooking poached eggs? All over the place they were-and these are supposed to be the best of the bunch

I can't make those poachie things work at all. The eggs end up with the white not set and the yolks hard. Fried eggs or scrambled every time!
