I've never made filo ones before, would you mind giving me a quick method for how to make them?

Oh Jo I am sooo sorry, I've only just seen this

As well as the filo you need a jar of mincemeat and three or four good sized eating apples - coxes or braeburns are nice. Peel and chop the apples, then zap in the microwave for about 4 minutes. I double up the pastry sheets and cut them into squares, I make them fairly small but any size is fine. Then a spoon of mincemeat into the middle of each, then a little of the apple. Moisten the filo with milk then scrunch them into parcels, drawing in the edges, making sure the filling is tucked inside. Grease a flat tray and pop the parcels on. They take about 7 to 10 minutes (no longer) in 200 degrees (180 fan) then quickly sprinkle with icing sugar whilst still hot.

I took a tin full into the meeting on Monday and they all got eaten ;)

No worries Kaz, I'm not making them until Christmas Eve :D

Thanks so much for that, I can't wait to try them!

I can't remember who I saw doing those on the telly, but they looked the part when dusted with icing sugar.

The one thing I do remember is that a piece of marzipan was pushed into the mince before cooking.

Off to the shops now...........

Yes you could add that I suppose, if you like it. I can't eat nuts so not for me ;)

IMO the key is sprinkling the icing sugar whilst the parcels are still hot, then it sticks to the pastry and gives the sweetness :)
