Spring rolls.

Postby Workingman » 18 May 2019, 15:22

I am doing a low(ish) carb, keto(ish), 5:2(ish) sort of diet and needed something for the fasting days that was tasty and would fill me up, so I decided spring rolls would fit the bill.

The basics are;
Spring roll or filo wraps
5 spice powder
Hoisin or oyster sauce
filling

I just made ten using equal(ish) volumes of:
1 small cooked and diced chicken breast - unseasoned
Diced onion
Chopped Shitake mushrooms
Julienne carrot
Bamboo shoots
Cut beansprouts.
Then a conflour slurry to seal the wrap.

I have frozen them individually on a tray and they can be oven cooked or fried.

There are loads of recipes out there and the above is a bit of a fusion of what I had in. They cost about 20-25p each, which is a steal, and are about 125 cals each.

Here they are, frozen and ready to be bagged up. Ten for under £2.50, that's £1 cheaper than for just two at the Chinese. :Hi:
