Lamb Tagine

This is the Waitrose recipe I promised Kaz :) We've had it a few times, exactly as written, it's very simple and very good :D

Here

The veg & bean stew mix is red onion, carrot, leek, kidney beans, chick peas, butter beans and cannellini beans, plus garlic & parsley.
I've just bought one to do it with, but if I didn't get the mix I'd use the same veg plus any of those beans or chick peas, or a tin of mixed :) The veg are cut quite small.

Ooh you just typed as I did Debih :D

Popped in to say the recipe uses those ready to eat apricots. Mine aren't, so I added them at 5.30, after 4 hours :)

:oops: We tend to use a jar of Al'fez Apricot and Coriander Tagine sauce for our lamb leftovers.

Waitrose are the only supermarket to do it locally as far as we know, but only at their larger stores, so we tend to stock up whenever we see it (the jars go in the garage with all those tinned tomatoes) ... ;)

Although I've just found Tesco sell it on-line ...

The lamb I bought was stewing lamb, those round bits with bones in - is it neck? - so seemed perfect for the slow cooker :)
It's all done and sitting in two (rather generous-looking!) lots cooling down, one for the freezer and one for tomorrow's dinner. In the morning I'll scrape off any fat that's set, and that's it. It really is dead simple for a really tasty result :)

They suggest couscous which we're not keen on - we've tried several times but it does taste like that bird stuff doesn't it :D
We might have bulghur wheat though, or rice, or maybe even mash :)

That does sound like neck :) Rice would be nice, but I always think creamy mash is gorgeous with any kind of lamb stew 8-) :)

We don't like couscous either :?

I'm knackered but might just chuck some stuff in the breadmaker for olive foccacia :)

Edited to add - decided that was silly, but found 2 lovely ends of baguette in the freezer. No mash or anything, we both decided we'll be happy with just the bread with it :)
