Poached pears

As Bente is oming round tomorrow night for dinner, I thought I'd do some poached pears - in wine
I only have granulated sugar - do I really need caster sugar? If I do, I'll have to whizz down to the village tomorrow morning and hope the shop has some, but if I can get away with granulated.....
