Steam ovens

We are currently working on kitchen plans for our new abode, the designer has sent us measurements so we can shop around and decide what we really want. Mr. Osc has been doing lots of research online, as he does, and has decided he would like a steam oven. Now I had never heard of such a thing, although I believe they are widely used in commercial kitchens. Particularly good for fish and veg, it seems, I've looked at a couple of videos and it could certainly work within the way we like to cook. Anyone got any experience of one of these?

I've only ever come across them in industrial kitchens. I didn't realise you could get them in a smaller scale.

Osc can you still bake and roast in them, like a conventional oven? If not, might it not be better to have a 'normal' oven and buy one of those big electric worktop steamers? Not that I know anything about steam ovens, so it's just a thought :?

Kaz we would still have a conventional fan oven, plus the steam oven and a microwave - the steam oven is just a bit bigger than a microwave. Here's some information on one that we looked at

I know absolutely zilch about them :o
But I can't see the need, or any advantage. I'd cook fish in a pan on the hob, or under the grill, or in the oven, depending on how I wanted it - or even in the microwave. Or fish in a greaseproof/ foil parcel in the oven.
And veg on the hob or in the microwave :o  :?

I usually cook Mick's fish in a foil parcel in the oven, with a tiny knob of butter or lemon and herbs.....
