Plums

Ive been given half a shopping bag full of plums, and have no idea what to do with them. I'm wondering about doing "something" so that I can store them to eat later somehow, only I have no idea what.

Plum jam comes so mind, but I'm not sure I've got the (mental) energy to give that a go tomorrow, (unless so wine knows of an easy recipe I can put in the breadmaker..)

Any other ideas? The fruit is red and nice and sweet, but I'm finding the skins a bit tart to eat.

Weka, you could blanche them for a few mins till the skins fall off. Then you could stone them once cool. After that you could sprinkle them with sugar (brown) and leave them in the bottom shelf of a v. low oven till they dry. It is similar to what has been done with dates for centuries.

Wm, now that's thinking!! What sort of brown sugar do you know? Fine? Soft? I'm definitely going o give this a go.
Plum crumble sounds nice too, but with all the excess of eating at the moment I don't feel like adding to it, so I'd rather do something to store them for another day.
