Christmas nibbles

We have been invited to our streets Christmas gathering tomorrow night. The invite says to bring a plate of nibbles.

I'm in a street of mostly retired folk, so chocolate crackles or fairy bread probably won't go down too well. :o
Any ideas? Needs to be quick and easy.

I've been sick all week, and the drugs the doctor gave me have only just kicked in so I'm trying to squeeze everything into 2 days now. I think the Christmas shopping is done now at least. Phew.

Next year I will know that they do a street gathering and I will be prepared. :D

What about some little cheesey nibbles?

100g plain flour
75g self raising flour
100g butter
100g grated cheese
1 large egg yolk

Make the pastry with all the ingredients, roll out, cut into shapes, bake for 12/14 mins (180C/Gas 4), cool.

They are lovely.

Or some cheese and bacon twists

1 sheet of ready to roll puff pastry
1 pack streaky bacon
1 block cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon mustard

Spread a thin layer of mustard over the rolled out pastry. Grate some cheese over. Lie strips of bacon over it about 1/2 cm apart. Cut the pastry either side of each piece of bacon. Twirl each strip around until the bacon is sealed in. Place on baking tray in a hot oven for approx 15 minutes.

They are really easy and taste wonderful.

By the way - hope your feeling better.

Pigs in blankets? Slices of bacon wrapped round little sausages and grilled or baked in the oven.............yummy and quite 'Christmassy' :) I don't eat pork myself but when I make these they always all get eaten! ;)

Couldn't find my flour and I hav run out of cheese. So instead I made chocolate covered strawberries.
What a disaster. First two packs of melting chocolate didn't melt, next pack I, so I added in some baileys, oops... It all went hard, so they got balled up and rolled in coconut. Last attempt worked perfec. Phew. And they were mostly all gobbled up.
