The cheapest place for a cuppa here is Sainsbury's cafe - £1 for a big mug full, or pot - a nice sit down with one, and a read of a magazine or paper is great after finishing the shopping :D

He got 2 decent sized cups out of it.

Yes Ally, even down along the seafront you can get tea or coffee and cake for €2.50, and that gorgeous view for free :)

We went into McDonalds in Birmingham city centre for coffee before Tom got his train the other night. I thought that if we went into Costa or wherever then John would spy the cake and need some and Tom would want one too and before we knew it £15 would be gone.
Anyway, McDonalds coffee is surprisingly good and for two lattes and an Americano it came to under £5.

I don't do Macdonalds and we haven't got one anyway (but I will remember for airports!), but would certainly avoid Costa and the like.
We tend to go to individual, local businesses, little cafes.
They all do decent coffee these days don't they, and if you do have cake it's home made and generous :)

I was thinking the same Di

We have a fab little tea room that's opened in town but they're not open every day. It's owned by the charity who ran the rehab that my sister was in over in Burton, they've opened a centre in town and the tea room is next door. It's used as a way to get people back into work at the end of their treatment. Cakes are home baked and the slices are enormous, and it's cheap compared to other places. The only other independent places we have in Cannock are those pretentious places that serve everything on a slate or a piece of old wood or whatever

Problem if we're shopping in Birmingham is that it's coffee chains or nothing.
