Here's the printed cotton. It's width 90cm (36") x 2m 20, so I'm not sure there would be enough for proper sleeves :?
Any ideas? Or is it just completely naff and should be an apron

Have I missed the actual dress pattern along the way Di?

There isn't one Fugi :D
I mentioned on café that I was going to wash a piece of material I got from a charity shop and would post a picture to see if anyone had any ideas of what to do with it :)
I have a selection of patterns to choose from (mainly from Prima magazine) but haven't looked through them yet.

Ah! Talking frocks, Kelly Brook was wearing a retro frock in the Mail Online today and it did suit her and she bought it from here:

http://www.vivienofholloway.com/en/category/Dresses/

I've sent the link to my retro wearing flame haired girl friend because she would look amazing in them. They do 40's and 50's fashions in a variety of fabrics including ditsy patterns. My Mum wore fashions exactly like the ones on the website and always looked so pretty and feminine.

The sizing is interesting because they say that their size charts don't resemble high street sizing in any way! That means a high street size 12 now would be more of a size 16 according to their measurements.

A fun website to browse through.

How about just a sleeveless top or a skirt?

They're lovely clothes Fugi :)

Loz a top of some kind is what it will probably end up as; although it's not very wide there is a nice lot of it, so maybe a long top to wear with cropped leggings :)
There is the perennial neckline and sleeves problem, so it would have to be to go over a t-shirt ;)

Di I was going to suggest a sleeveless top too :) I ahd a little printed blouse on today, under a cream batwing cardi ;)

Fugi, sizings are hugely different now. For example when I was 17, 5ft 6 and weighed about 9st 7, I wore a size 14 in clothes including jeans! These days I am still the same height considerably heavier and am still in a 14, in fact I sometimes fit a 12 in jeans  I reckon I would have fit today's size 10 in those days........

Gorgeous clothes - thanks for the link :) 8-) :)

That's a lovely print Di! I was going to suggest a sleeveless top - I think those colours would look lovely with jeans :)

Yes, I think you're all right, there's too much pattern to have sleeves as well.
Most of my clothes are plain, so the bargain pieces I get are often a bit of a challenge :)

Kaz it would have to have a t-shirt under, rather than a cardi over, partly as it's cotton it would then sit funny, but also as I'm almost always too warm for a cardi so I would need to be able to take it off. This 6-month winter has seen me wearing more jumpers etc than I have for years :D
I'll have a look through the patterns and see what there is :)
