F1 Testing

Postby Workingman » 08 Feb 2013, 18:43

The first week is over and we now know.... not a lot. Fastest times, most laps completed, breakdowns, crashes and so on mean nothing. That is what testing is about.

However, when Gary Anderson, who was a team boss, says that Gutierrez and Bottas have impressed the most we need to take notice.

Shell and I will be pleased as they respectively drive for Sauber and Williams.

Two to watch, then.
I see Vettel was third fastest on the final day of testing - but on the hardest compound tyres. Raikkonen set the fastest time overall, but on softs.
Mercedes seem to have been very reliable after Lewis's off; Renault too have been bulletproof so far. If I was alex Chilton in the Marussia though, a suspension failure would have got my full attention!
Briefly, in the MotoGP bikes, testing in Sepang, it is nice to see Rossi finish third fastest back on the Yamaha, trailing only Pedrosa and Lorenzo. Also Cal Crutchlow in fifth as the fastest non-factory bike.

Isn't is about time one of the teams recruited Rowan Atkinson?
Possibly not McLaren though .....

Ah now, I hate Monaco. Horrible dangerous circuit, has already nearly claimed the lives of three drivers, Karl Wendlinger (and wrecked his career), Jenson Button and Sergio Perez. If that circuit was anywhere else it would have been taken off the calendar years ago. But as ever with Bernie, money talks. Drives me mad when he has the cheek to criticise Silverstone for outdated facilities

I will be glad to miss Monaco
