Cricket and Covid Regulations ....

And here, for your interest, are the regulations as imposed by Anston Cricket Club, who apparently play in the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League, which must be up Sheffield way as P., an old school colleague of mine, has just returned from a match there and sent me a link to this:

COVID-19 Rules & Procedures for a Return to Cricket
Buildings and Facilities
 The clubroom & bar WILL be open and there will be access to the building via the double doors to the front of the main clubhouse, in front of the cricket field.
 There is a one-way system in place that needs to be followed.
 Table service is in place and orders will be taken via text message. (Please see signage on site)
 As per ECB guidance the changing rooms and showers WILL NOT be open.
 The player toilets will be accessed to via the changing rooms and a one person at a time system will be in place. The away team will have their own toilet access.
 The toilet facilities for the Umpire will be in the Umpires room with a one in one out policy in place.
 Public toilets and Scorers toilet facilities will be available in the main clubhouse via the one-way access. A strict one in, one out policy will be in operation.
 Toilet facilities will be cleaned a minimum of once every 45mins.
 2m social distancing must be observed and the outside patio seating will be set out accordingly.
Players, Match Officials and Spectators
 Any person attending the ground will be required to sign a register giving their name and contact details which will be kept for 21 days to comply with Track and Trace guidelines.
 If you or a member of your household displays symptoms of COVID-19 you MUST NOT attend the ground and should self-isolate for 14 days.
 As there will be no access to changing facilities all players should arrived changed ready to play and leave the ground promptly at the end of the game.
 Umpires will have the authority to impose sanctions for players not adhering to COVID-19 guidance including player ejection and match cancellation.
 There is a Covid-19 Representative on site who will be managing the social distancing and will answer any concerns.
 There will be a designated area for the match scorers. This are will be clearly marked and MUST NOT be entered by players or spectators.
 There will be NO car sharing for travel to and from matches for people not from the same household.
 We politely request where possible visiting teams minimise the numbers of spectators they bring to the ground.

During the Game
 Restrictions on number of overs per innings will be set by the leagues.
 The non-striking batter MUST BE on an adjacent wicket a minimum of 2m away.
 Slip fielders MUST BE a minimum of 1m apart.
 Wicket Keeper should be a minimum of 1m away from the stumps.
 All other fielders should be a minimum of 2m away from other fielders, batters and umpires.
 The ball should be returned directly to the bowler and NOT passed around the field
 The umpires SHOULD NOT touch the ball at any point during the match.
 Bowlers SHOULD NOT hand any personal items (caps, jumpers etc.) to the umpire.
 Social distancing should be maintained during wicket celebrations and team talks.
 In the event of a rain break players and officials should return to their cars and not use the clubhouse.
 There will be a hygiene break every 6 overs during which all players should sanitise their hands and the ball should also be sanitised; or at the change of batters every 4 overs for soft ball pairs games.
 Sanitiser wipes will be made available for the batsman as they come off the field. These will be placed in a container where the entrance and exit to the field is.
 The Covid-19 Rep will check and replace the wipes as an when needed. Please place used wipes in the bins provided.
 Players and officials should bring their own food and drink for drinks breaks and innings breaks.
 The club WILL NOT be providing any drinks.


The above points are not negotiable and anybody failing to adhere to them will be asked to leave!

No mention of what happens if a player hits a six or four and a spectator picks up the ball

An d whi fixes the bails back on if they are dislodged for any reason?
