I managed to succumb to my first goalless draw of the season yesterday, Barwell v Trafford in the Northern Premier.

A Trafford fan next to me summed it up nicely three minutes from the end. Taking a call on his mobile, he said “It’s nil-nil, and it’s been that bloody awful, we’re lucky to have got the nil ….”

The main consolation was a superb half-time chicken curry and chips from the hatch for £3.50 on a cold, bleak afternoon; generous portion and excellent quality.
