Well I just got a phone call from vet just now. Candy hasn't had her insulin today but her sugar levels are still high. They're are now worrying there may be an underlying problem that is making her too susceptible to the insulin and are taking her in for a scan of her tummy under sedation. They seem to be thinking now that though she is on a low dose of insulin, this susceptibility(if there is one) to it means she has effectively been getting too much and this is pushing her into hypo. If there isnt any underlying issue in tummy area then they'll have to do further tests. I've to go in and see them at 4.30pm but she will definitely be kept in again tonight. I'll report back in again later!

I have no idea why I didn't spot this last night Shaz. I hope they have been able to pin point what is causing Candy's problems and she can come home as soon as possible xxxx

They have let me bring Candy home.

The scan showed Candy has a mass at her pancreas and obviously this could be what is causing the blood sugar problems. They would have to do a CAT or MMR to see fully what is going on but they feel this wouldn't really help because of her age/health and the fact there isn't anything they could do if it was cancers(which they suspect).
They told me I could take her home tonight and to bring her back tomorrow morning for more tests to see whether they should restart the insulin.
They were quite frank with me and told me she is living on borrowed time and her end is near.
As I was leaving vets with her they told me to give her lots of food, cuddles and to generally spoil her tonight.
I have a feeling that if the blood sugar isn't under control by tomorrow then they may be looking at euthanising her, if not tomorrow, then very soon.
I'm obviously gutted but, tbh, I didnt think she would have made Christmas past so everything is a bonus now and, though I'm gutted, I know she's had a great life and we've done everything possible for her<---that's me being brave!
Anyway she is now cuddled up in a blanket and lying next to me purring quietly. I'll post a couple of photos of her later tonight to let you all see my lovely old lady.

((((hug)))) is all I know to do right now..... I am so very very sorry. I really do hope the blood sugars come under control and you have just a bit more than only a day or two with your Candy Girl.

Make the most of the hours / days; spoil your girl and give her all the things that cats enjoy but shouldn't have.

Fusses to her and loads of vibes to you both
