Junk Food Kids: Who's to Blame?

Postby Workingman » 18 Feb 2015, 22:51

I just watched this and I am furiously annoyed.

Children as young as four having teeth pulled. Well, it is not their fault, is it? It comes down the parents, got that, the parents.

One doctor on the programme said that he was a public employee and that it was not his job to apportion blame. The others were so "understanding" and empathetic.

I beg to differ. It is absolutely his job, and their job, to tell these parents that they are doing a bad job and to pull their socks up. They have to stop pandering to their children's desires. They have to stop filling their fridges with chocolate bars and ice-cream and sweets. The experts have to tell these parents, and children, the truth....... It is not blaming their parents, it is telling them the way things are.

 I couldn't get over kids eating there way round the supermarket did they pay for that food
And that teenage on her mobile whole the doctor was talking to her was disgusting
Saying that it must be a nightmare for parents these days it's all fast food and junk food
Kids don't get the excersis either I'm glad my boys grew up before this all started
And those drs should spell it out to parents but they don't just what do they get paid for
And my kindle can't spell

Saundra, when the mum was trying to talk to her daughter who was on the laptop and would not put it down I wanted to leap into the TV, throw the lappy against the wall and give the mum a good slap for being so weak.

The children are in charge with some people.... how did that happen?

Ditto.

I seen the trailer and was shocked to see one child having so many teeth extracted and another child (overweight) sitting on the sofa absolutely stuffing food into her face that I knew I'd be a shouty Sheila at the TV. :x

I can't sew for toffee but love this programme.

I'll probably open a can of worms re children's eating habits but I don't remember in my childhood food ever being an issue - we ate at mealtimes.
End of.

Not like now where people seem to eat a normal meal - and then an hour later be ready for say...a pizza, or a burger etc. :?

Of course I had sweets when I was young - and probably had some every day but that was that.
No snacking (nowt to snack on except apples and oranges anyway!)

I always remember being too busy out playing all the time with my friends to be bothered with food - mum called us in at lunch/dinner time - we ate, and scampered back off out again.

Things have really changed.

"You are a tub of lard, your daughter is a tub of lard, do you not see the frigging link? Sat there bleating whilst stuffing your face is why you sound like a tub of lard. Try saying "No!" once in a while."

Sorry, it just winds me up so much.
