Mick would most certainly agree with that!

Spot on. A Polish lad came over here and worked. He did four years. In that time he paid his mother's mortgage off in Poland, and saved enough to buy his own house too. He worked all the hours God sent, never went out and spent as little as he could, that's how he managed it.

This is not an option for our young people. They can work all the hours as well but in four years they won't be able to buy their own home!

EU workers maybe work very hard because they can see a tangible and immediate benefit for themselves.

Oh I definitely agree with you there Cromwell. They can put their heads down and work like made, seeing massive benefits for their futures back at home at the end of it. As you say, it isn't the same at all for our youngsters, it isn't a level playing field in that way and that really isn't fair :?

An excellent point, and yes, Kaz, it is not a level playing field.

Going back to agencies. There are some with offices set up in the sub-continent, S.E. Asia and Africa with the sole aim of getting workers for the NHS. There is a double whammy in that approach. The UK takes doctors, nurses and other workers from poorer countries who have trained up these workers at great expense. At the same time the UK does not train enough of its own medical staff or when they are trained there is not work for them here so off they go to Australia, NZ, Canada or the States.

Everybody wants a free NHS, but nobody really wants to pay for it.

Reality says that base rate taxes would have to be 30% or more for everyone and the tax allowance would have to fall in order to pay for the NHS with British workers.

Everyone wants a job for life, a "living wage", wage rises higher than inflation and a pension which means you can retire in comfort for the rest of your lives.

The NHS is not a profit making organisation. So where does the wage rise and pension come from? Taxes. Already the top 50% of the population pay 89% of the base level tax load. Where do they think that they are going to get this money from?

So we suck in cheaper staff and lose our own highly trained staff to countries who manage their budgets and expectations in a better way.

Then we blame the immigrants.... We have to get our own house in order before we can sort this out. We have to close the flood gates of immigration, re-balance our budget and get our own people back to work. Sadly the only parties who are willing to work on this are parties who are considered "non electable". I'm wondering why we elect people who won't or can't do the job. Over and over and over again....

But we do not blame the immigrants, even though that is how the media and politicians like to portray it, we blame the media, politicians and businesses.

If there were no such things as immigrants the rich would still have to fund the poor. If they didn't they would have to work the fields, man the mines and load the looms in the cotton and woollen mills themselves. As if!

The rich only get rich on the backs of the poor, and to import cheap labour to undercut our own poor is one of the lowest things a human could do. But, hey, if that is what is needed to make a profit, so be it, eh?

And they justify this by calling it 'free movement of labour' instead of cheap labour.
