Oooo Di those before ones are gorgeous!!!! :D

I'd highly recommend soaking your nails in good old bog standard olive oil for five minutes once a week....and then when you take them out, give each nail a good massage with the remainder of the oil that's left on your fingers/nails. It's as good as any product 8-)

Thanks Gal, they are nice nails and I've always been quite proud of them :)
Needed doing though, before they all broke/flaked/split - and they'll soon grow :D

Ally they're really as short as they can go, otherwise (as with one finger on the other hand) the finger shows above the nail.
You do need a little bit don't you, for lip balm etc and for me, for popping out tiny pills from their tinfoil!

Gal I do agree soaking in oil does a brilliant job and it does happen, but only once in a blue moon - I just don't remember to bother with them.
But hopefully Kaz is better than me :D
The only real problem they have is the cuticles are a bit raggy (I've never picked them), I really should pay them a bit more attention  :)

Edited to add. Meant to say, those buffer thingys are really good too (4-sided jobs, to smooth, polish etc), when I've bothered with that people often ask what I've got on my nails :)

That's a lovely set of nails you have there Di, if mine grew like that I'd never have bothered with the gels ;) Not to worry about the links, I bought some cuticle oil with grapeseed oil in Boots with my points, Sally Hansen make it. I also bought some false nail remover, a little pot you pop your nails into to remove the fake bits.....Not going to use that until they are almost grown out though, just to get the last bits off ;) I also bought a Sally Hansen Polish, a lovely very pale pink, that is supposed to be gel strength. That's for me to use while the fakes are growing out. Pale colours hide the flaws better

Frank I always have Tea Tree Oil in the bathroom cabinet, I will try it 8-) Gal that's a great tip about the olive oil, again I always have a bottle of that in, we get through a fair bit here, so I will do the soaking thing 8-) :D

Ally I have definitely started something here :P :D

Another one that picks the skin round my nails. I make them really sore, wish I could stop.

Any suggestions anyone?

I never do anything with my nails. I have horrible nails, they are really big. My thumb nail is the same size as my dads was

You have indeed Kaz!

I have my nails all filed now and a squarish shape (which I like) and on Friday morning shall be deciding on which lush colour to paint them.

Decisions. Decisions.

The only thing I can think of Shell would be that anti-nailbiting stuff that they sell, with the yucky taste :?

Ally I've done both my finger and toe nails with the new polish. Toes look great, the fingernails not toooo bad considering 8-) Good enough anyway to disguise the damage until my own nails grow out ;) 8-)

And I have now actually painted mine, that sludge colour :D

It won't last, they'll be back to being ignored/chopped alternately very soon ;)

Hmmmm the remains of the acryllics are starting to crack so the colour came off  I have filed them again, and this time just done them with the Sally Hansen top coat clear stuff. They look a bit of a mess but I am determined not to weaken and get them done again, I just need to grit my teeth for the next month whilst the remains of the fales grow out, and then it will be fine....... :x
