But why is it unthinkable that they could have had something to do with it? It could not possibly be that they are doctors, could it? Many people have had wrong done to them by doctors. Could their intelligence prevent them from committing harm? Maybe, except that those who have been killed or maimed by intelligent people are legend. Does their status as solidly middle-class citizens disallow harmful behaviour? It should not; the middle-classes have been known to be extremely violent.

The truth is that there is no rhyme or reason why parents harm or kill their children, and those who do come from every strata within society. Nobody is ruled in, and nobody is ruled out, and statistically it is our nearest and dearest who are the most likely to cause us harm. NSPCC figures show that roughly one child per week dies at the hands of its parents or guardians.

I am not saying, and have not said, that they killed her, but I reserve judgement on their innocence in the matter.

i don't know or have any way of knowing whether they were involved or not-BUT

they left their children alone while they went out-unforgivable imo, there were 4 couples -could they not take it turns to watch all the kidss

our son and d-i-l got married in a country hotel, members of both families took turns to spend 30 min with their child in his room ,he was not left alone for a min

Nothing to do with it at all.

I ask again....would you have continued to press for more and more investigation into the case if you were involved ?

Would you not just have been relieved that there was no evidence either way and be glad that the case was closed ?

Would you have approached the Prime Minister, the best detectives in the UK, or would you have just let it go ?

Kate McCann has been on the verge of suicide as any mother would be if their child had disappeared.

And as for leaving their child alone; what is the difference between what the McCanns did and what the parents of little April Jones did ?

Both children were out of sight of their parents, both were abducted after dark, both were alone.

And yet we heard no suspicions about Paul and Coral Jones, although admittedly the case was solved reasonably fast.

Maybe because they weren't doctors ?

That is a bit of a selective quote, MD.

I asked it, and others, as simple and logical questions and then gave answers which challenged them. I asked because it is quite reasonable to think that they, the McCanns. could have had something to do with Maddies 'disappearance'. All I and many others are asking is what it is about the McCanns that makes them different; immune from such thought processes. Given there is a lot of statistical evidence that a murdered person will be the victim of a family member, or someone they knew well, any detective would view them as initial prime suspects. SOP.

It is impossible for me to answer your other questions in any meaningful way because I would never have left my children in their own bedrooms and gone to an immediate neighbour's for wine and nibbles, never mind doing it in a far-away holiday complex. BTW it was Vic who brought this aspect up in his post above yours, but I do agree with his assessment and solution to such a situation.

There has never been the slightest evidence, either, that she was abducted by a stranger. In such cases it is almost always a family member, or close family friend who is responsible, sadly :(

But not in the case of Ben Needham, April Jones, Jamie Bulger, Milly Dowler, Holly Wells, Jessica Chapman, Sarah Payne, and I'm sure there are others.

Madeleine McCann is another.

April Jones, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were abducted by people they knew though

From what I can remember MD the big difference is April Jones was outside playing with her friends, when she was taken by someone she knew, whereas in Maddie's case it was Kate and Gerry McCann that were outside playing with their friends leaving their children unattended
