Their Royal Leeches.

Postby Workingman » 07 May 2015, 16:08

I was pleased that Kate had a comfortable pregnancy and that she gave birth to a healthy baby and that both are doing well. That is as far as it goes.

Today it is revealed that Norfolk police are delivering a letter from Kensington Palace Communications requesting that the Royal couple's privacy be respected. What matter is that of the police? They are not the Royal Family's postal service, nor are they their personal security guards. The police are OUR police, paid for by US to police us with our consent.

If Will and Kate want a mail drop they should get in touch with the Post Office or a leaflet drop service. If they want 24/7 security on their PRIVATE estate let them pay for security guards.

:P :P :P Of course it has. ;)

I am a 'mild' Republican who wishes no harm to the Royal Family, but who hates the money and resources spent on anyone but the Monarch and Heir; and I begrudge that: slightly.

Will and Kate and the children are living in a private house on a private estate living private lives, keyword: private. They are not on Royal duties. If they wish to remain private let them fund whatever steps are necessary to maintain that privacy - it is what other people have to do.

I don't like your title at all. I was brought up to show respect to royalty and other people in high positions. Whether I agree with these sort of things or not, I still feel I must show them respect.

Sorry, Rodo, but I was taught that respect has to be earned and simply having a "title" does not fit with my teaching - blame my dad. ;) :P

ETA I have been reading a few comments pages and the Kensington Palace "order" has not gone down too well. I am not alone.

It is a tricky one - I like William and Kate, but police resources are stretched and they could surely afford stuff like this themselves :?

Yes they certainly do that, that's very true. I still think this business is a tad high-handed :? As long as people stick to the law, why should W and K be able to tell them how to behave :? Police instructing locals to respect their privacy...............hmmm :?

Ah, that old fallacy. People do not come to the UK (London) to see the Royal Family - The Queen - as few ever see any of them. They come to see the buildings and for the history behind them. They would still come if the Monarchy did not exist. Try Versailles or St Petersburg.
